Amidst preparations for the return of the second phase of the Azam Uganda Premier League, league leaders KCCA FC have excluded their assistant manager Omulangila Sam Ssimbwa over match fixing rumors.
According to an official statement released by the Kasasiro boy’s management on January 15, 2016, the club confirm that they are have been informed by various media sources of a recording that implicates Ssimbwa on the matter in question.
“Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) through various media outlets has been informed of a recording in which one of our coaches, Mr. Ssimbwa Bamweyana Sam allegedly utters certain statements regarding his personal conduct in the field of football,” reads part of the statement.
For a club that has just recently unveiled their second shirt sponsorship deal with Prime Media who now feature on the Yellow boys’ jersey along with pay TV StarTimes, integrity and transparency are some of the few things they can promise to their partners to ensure a continued partnership as stated in part of the statement.
“KCCA FC would like to state that as a club it stands for integrity and professionalism in the conduct of club affairs as well as in the development of the game in Uganda and does not in any manner wish to associate or condone any form of football misconduct.”
For that matter therefore, an investigation committee has been put in place while Ssimbwa takes a sit on the sidelines to ensure a smooth and transparent investigation on the matter whose findings must be produced by January 31st.
“To this end, the club executive has set up a committee to specifically investigate and make recommendations following its findings by 31st January 2016.”

KCCA FC would like to state that as a club it stands for integrity and professionalism in the conduct of club affairs as well as in the development of the game in Uganda and does not in any manner wish to associate or condone any form of football misconduct.
The Management of the Club has therefore set up a committee to investigate the allegations and authenticity of the said recording and is committed to taking all appropriate action after the investigations are complete and findings made.
To this end, the club executive has set up a committee to specifically investigate and make recommendations following its findings by 31st January 2016.
In the meantime Mr. Ssimbwa Bamweyana Sam has been requested to step aside to pave way for the investigations.
KCCA FC would like to reassure all our partners and fans that the Club is committed to the growth and professionalization of the game of football through fair competition and transparency and will do everything possible to protect these principles as the core values of the Club.”
