The Tanzanian government has asked Zari to refrain from holding her famous Zari All -White Party in the country after she failed to follow the due procedure given by Baraza la Sanaa la Taifa (Basata).

Basata is Tanzania’s national arts council which is responsible for the revival, promotion and development of the arts in the country.

According to Tanzania’s Amani newspaper, Zari is not allowed by law to hold another Zari All White Party in the country following her 2014 failure to observe Basata’s outlined procedure for holding such an event.

Apparently, in 2014, Zari’s party held at the Milimani City in Dar es Salaam did not conform to the law, going by Basata’s claims.

“Basata reports say Zari will not be allowed to hold another All White Party in Tanzania similar to the 2014 one until she abides by its provisions. It’s claimed Basata has been on her neck following the party. Apparently, she did not follow the lawful procedure before embarking on preparations for the show.”

“She’d advertised the event even before alerting Basata; that was wrong,” says a source quoted by Amani.

One of the officers at Basata told the newspaper that Zari was consequently fined Tsh500, 000 (Ksh23, 000) for the breach.

“Currently, I am not sure if Zari can be allowed to hold an event similar to the 2014 Zari All White Party. In that edition, she breached the law by advertising the show before getting permission from Basata.

“She was, as a result, fined Tsh500, 000 (Ksh23, 000) for the breach. I am not sure if she has paid the fine, but what I am certain about is she paid Tsh1.5 million (Ksh70, 000) for permit,” said the Basata officer.

Zari is yet to respond to Basata’s claims.
